CBG, or cannabigerol benefits for the skin

CBG, or cannabigerol benefits for the skin

By now, most people are familiar with the cannabinoids found in the Cannabis plant. The two most popular are THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol). High uses the nutrient-dense seed oil from the Cannabis Sativa (hemp) plant and does not include CBD or the psychoactive compound THC in our formulations. With the upcoming launch of our long-awaited blemish line, high & bye, we are including an amazing and exciting new ingredient – CBG, also known as cannabigerol!

Now for a bit of “science talk”.

Right now, there are around 150 identified cannabinoids in the cannabis plant. These cannabinoids are broken into categories of ‘Minor’ or ‘Major’. As you may have guessed, major cannabinoids are more common and are in higher percentage in the cannabis plant. These cannabinoids, like THC and CBD are widely known and have been studied for some time. Conversely, minor cannabinoids are relatively new, just being studied and are present in plants in low levels, usually less than 1%. CBG is considered a minor cannabinoid. Because it is the precursor from which all other cannabinoids are synthesized, CBG is often referred to as the “mother” or “stem cell” of cannabinoids. In other words, CBG is needed to form the other cannabinoids in the plant.

You may be wondering how CBG effects your skin. Well, our bodies have something called an endocannabinoid system (ECS), and the purpose of this system is to keep everything in balance. CBG works with the receptors- CB1 and CB2 which are found in the endocannabinoid system in the skin. Once CBG enters the epidermis (skin), it penetrates to the deeper layers where it helps calm inflammation, helps reduce blemishes, purifies pores, balances sebum (oil) production and assists with cellular turnover.

Now that we have the science out of the way, let’s talk about something truly exciting!

I mentioned high & bye above, so let me tell you what this new collection includes. High & bye BLEMISH CLEARING GEL and our high & bye REFINING OIL are the new products we are adding to the high product lineup. Along with the proven benefits of hemp seed oil, both products will contain the power of CBG which helps calm inflammation and blemish-causing bacteria. We have taken this blemish-fighting dynamo and expertly formulated it with BIOCANNA™, which is our secret sauce that consists of Cannabis sativa (hemp) seed oil in combination with certified organic plant oils, high potency antioxidants and pure plant essential oils for healthy, blemish-free, beautiful skin. High & bye CLEARING GEL can be used both morning and night and will help dry and purify imperfections. High & bye REFINING OIL will be used during your PM routine. While you sleep this oil will help soothe, calm and balance blemish-prone skin.

As with all our products, all of high’s products containing cannabinoids meet our clean, eco-friendly and cruelty-free high standards
