What is Clean Beauty?
Beauty brands worldwide use the term “clean beauty” to indicate that their brand doesn’t contain harmful ingredients that they consider unsafe and destructive for your skin.
Why should you switch to clean beauty?
Clean beauty is not just kind to you but to the planet as well. While keeping your safety in mind, clean beauty is mindful of its carbon footprint as an industry and makes an effort to be as sustainable as possible. Because the beauty industry is one of the world’s largest industries, it’s important to our planet and the well-being of humans that brands are attentive to how their packaging, practices, and business footprint are affecting the rest of the world. That’s why over at high we are proud to say we use certified Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) mixed sources paper, which is produced from well-managed forests, controlled sources & recycled wood or fiber. We never use Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) inks. As well as our bottles & jars are all recyclable, BPA-free, & phthalate-free.
Clean beauty is simple, it’s not about being 100% perfect. This means that yes, man-made ingredients are clean as long as they’re safe and non-toxic. Finding clean beauty brands can take a little bit of time especially if you’re new to non-toxic beauty. Take a look at the products on your skincare shelf and look at the ingredients list. You want to make sure they are free of:
· Parabens
· Fragrance
· Chemical UV filters Octinoxate and Oxybenzone
· Diethanolamine (DEA)
· Triclosan
· Phthalates like Dibutyl phthalate
· Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS)
· Formaldehyde
· Polyethylene (PEGs) like PEG-10 laurate
· Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA)
Not only are our products free from a long list of common harsh ingredients, but they are also vegan & cruelty-free at every step of the sourcing & production process. High purchases the highest majority of our ingredients from USDA certified organic farmers & is formulated to exceed California Organic Products Act (COPA) standards.
The bottom line on clean beauty is to check that the ingredients are not harmful to your skin, look at where the products are made, and what packaging is used, and make sure they are safe! Keep in mind that fragrance in cosmetics is used as a loophole to hide toxic ingredients.
