What types of facials should you be doing for your skin type?
We all love a relaxing facial, but knowing which is right for your skin type is important!
1. Normal/Dry Skin
When having normal to dry skin, you should choose a facial that includes deep cleansing, a moisturizing massage, and steam treatment to remove extra dirt; opt for a moisturizing mask or a hydrating serum to finish off. If your skin is on the dry side, avoid too much exfoliating. If you are going to an esthetician to receive a facial, ask about the hydra facial! It is good for all skin types and improves your skin's appearance by helping it become more hydrated, plump, and have a clear complexion.
2. Combination Skin
Since combination skin is oily and normal to dry skin, ensure mild products are used. This is so that you don’t aggravate the oily skin into breakouts, and the dry skin doesn’t get drier with products used for oily skin! Try a Fruit Facial! A fruit facial is choc-a-bloc with fruit acids such as Malic, Tartaric, and Citric Acids that slough off surface dead cells, unblock pores, and melt away with blackheads and whiteheads, common afflictions of combination skin.
3. Oily Skin
If you have oily skin, you should use a facial that uses natural extracts and focus on deep cleaning and extraction with toning. A skin treatment that includes an exfoliant, such as salicylic or glycolic acid, removes the congestion in the pores and helps the skin get back to normal, making it a good facial for oily skin. This facial is also good for those with acne-prone skin.
4. Sensitive Skin
Avoid facials that exfoliate or use AHAs for sensitive skin, as these irritate the skin further. Try a facial that includes a gentle massage using green tea or chamomile products. Also, sensitive skin requires a gentle facial with mild enzymes and cleansers that are less likely to cause irritation. Products that are free of fragrances or harsh chemicals are important.
Facials are a great way to keep your skin fresh and healthy; if you are new to facials ask your local esthetician for tips or send us a DM on Instagram, and our esthetician can help you out.
