CBG vs CBD

CBG vs CBD

You have probably heard the terms CBG & CBD, and you may be wondering what the difference is. Today, we will talk about what CBG is, what CBD is, and how they differ. They both are the most common chemical compounds in hemp, and both belong to a group called cannabinoids.

What are cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are a group of substances found in the cannabis plant. There are 113 different cannabinoids present in the cannabis plant.

What is CBG?

CBG is a type of cannabinoid obtained from the cannabis plant. It is often signified as the mother of all cannabinoids. Additional cannabinoids are derived from cannabigerol acid (CBGA), an acid form of CBG. It has promising therapeutic applications. And is known to have antibacterial, antifungal, and antiparasitic properties.

There are three significant benefits of using Cannabigerol on your skin- it is highly anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and an antioxidant. If you are looking for anti-aging properties, CBG is rich in antioxidants which will help fend off free radicals that can prematurely age the look of skin—struggling with blemishes? CBG boasts antibacterial and antifungal properties to help ease and calm blemishes and other skin inflammations!

What is CBD?

CBD is another type of cannabinoid obtained from the cannabis plant. It's one of the two primary active ingredients of cannabis, the other one being THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). CBD is found to have anti-inflammatory effects; using a product that contains CBD might help treat dry skin or certain inflammatory skin disorders, can help with anxiety, etc.

How do CBG & CBD differ?

Cannabigerol (CBG) is a minor non-psychoactive cannabinoid. As I stated before, it is nicknamed the “Mother of all cannabinoids.” It is the chemical parent of cannabidiol, CBC, CBN, and THC. When used together, cannabigerol also increases the effects of cannabidiol (CBD) (“entourage effect”) while at the same time minimizing the high caused by THC. Wondering how? It does this by inhibiting the CB1 receptor. While CBG & CBD are both non-psychoactive, meaning that they won’t get you “high.” They have differences; CBG is packed with fatty acids, antioxidants, and nutrients. CBD also has anti-inflammatory effects but is more potent than CBG, and it can help with anxiety, sleeping problems, etc. Both are similar, but their benefits are just a little different.

Why does high beauty use CBG vs. CBD?

High beauty uses CBG because it is packed with fatty acids, antioxidants, and nutrients. CBD is excellent for deeper penetration if you have anxiety, need to sleep, etc. But when focusing on skincare, we wanted to work with seed derivatives.

Overall, CBG and CBD are pretty similar. They just have some different benefits! We use Cannabis sativa seed oil because of its excellent benefits. Helping calm inflammation, balance all skin types with adaptogens, protect with potent antioxidants, and hydrate and replenish the skin!
